No Harm, No Foul

April 17th, 2021

Do away with the opinion I am harmed, and the harm is cast away too. Do away with being harmed, and harm disappears.

- Marcus Aurelius in Meditations, 4.7

Our experience shades how we see events around us. We allow life to color our thoughts with the prejudices we wish to apply.

When we experience an event, we can allow our bias to define the event, or we can play devil's advocate and examine our response.

Conclusion

We choose the narrative by choosing how we interpret an event. Words and actions of others are given power by the response we yield.
