Seneca and the authors are telling us that bashing people over the head is not persuasion.
When we nag and lecture, we push people away.
Conclusion
We need to layout out how our ideas most benefit them. We should avoid telling them about all the pitfalls of their behaviors. Instead, point out all the benefits of abstaining from the behavior.
